President/CEO

As Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas approaches our 70th anniversary in 2012, we find ourselves at a pivotal time in our company’s history.

We have the good fortune of retrospect, looking back on a long tradition of serving Kansans as a dependable, financially secure and customer-focused company which grew into the largest health insurer in the state.

We are on firm footing in today’s business environment, striving to extend our longstanding traditions and focus on our mission of being the best at providing health insurance in Kansas.

As we look to the future, we know now more than ever, we must be visionaries. The years ahead will offer a dramatically different health insurance marketplace for consumers and insurers.

The road traveled

Since 1942, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas has provided Kansans a dependable partner for their health insurance needs. Several generations of employees have taken to heart our “Kansans serving Kansans” philosophy, dedicating themselves to providing superior customer service, processing claims quickly and accurately, and taking the steps necessary to offer Kansans a wide array of affordable health insurance benefit plans.

One of the most important lessons from our history that we can draw on today is our ability to adapt to change. We have adjusted our business practices many times to comply with numerous new laws and regulations, to embrace new technologies and to meet the ever-changing needs of the health care consumer. No business can survive and thrive for nearly 70 years if they are not able to respond to changes in the marketplace or consumer needs.
