Several Blue Cross employees participate in the Shawnee County Relay for Life, a fund raising event benefiting the American Cancer Society.
The annual overnight event is designed to celebrate survivorship and raise money for research and programs of the American Cancer Society. During the event, teams of people gather at schools, fairgrounds, or parks and take turns walking or running laps. Each team tries to keep at least one team member on the track at all times.
Blue Cross employees, friends and family teamed up in the fight against cancer by joining the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life in May 2009. Five teams of 10 to 15 members each represented the company, raising $7,685, boosting the total dollars raised for the Relay for Life to $159,473.
