Employees in the Topeka, Salina, Wichita and Hutchinson offices choose to Live United by conducting solicitation activities for the annual United Way campaign. Volunteer teams work to find innovative and creative ways to show employees the benefits of contributing to the many agencies that comprise the United Way. The company offers payroll deduction for those who do contribute.
In 2008, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas and its employees donated more than $226,493 to support United Way campaigns in Topeka, Salina, Wichita and Hutchinson.
In Topeka, where approximately 1,450 employees work, President and CEO Andrew C. Corbin, presented officials from the United Way of Greater Topeka with a check in the amount of $226,493.74. The check represented an employee contribution of $184,845.44 as well as a $25,000 donation from the BCBSKS Foundation.
In Salina, home to about 40 BCBSKS employees, donations totaling $6,671.98 were donated to the Salina Area United Way by employees and the BCBSKS Foundation. In Wichita, where BCBSKS has about 30 people, $8,620.32 was donated by employees and the BCBSKS Foundation in support of the United Way of the Plains’ annual campaign drive. Twelve employees in Hutchinson raised $1,356 for the United Way of Reno County.
