Employees in the Topeka, Salina, Wichita and Hutchinson offices choose to Live United by conducting solicitation activities for the annual United Way campaign. Volunteer teams work to find innovative and creative ways to show employees the benefits of contributing to the many agencies that comprise the United Way. The company offers payroll deduction for those who do contribute.
In 2012, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas and its employees donated more than $242,673 to support United Way campaigns in Topeka, Salina, Wichita and Hutchinson.
In Topeka, where 1,375 employees work, President/CEO Andrew C. Corbin presented officials from United Way of Greater Topeka with a check in the amount of $223,630.49. The check represents an employee contribution of $188,630.49 as well as a $35,000 donation from the BCBSKS Foundation.
In Salina, home to nearly 50 BCBSKS employees, $6,621.80 was donated to the Salina Area United Way by employees and the Foundation. In Wichita, where BCBSKS has about 35 employees, $10,072.80 was donated by employees and the Foundation in support of the United Way of the Plains’ annual campaign drive. Employees in the Hutchinson office raised $2,347.92 for United Way of Reno County.
