The 2012 annual March for Babies benefitting the March of Dimes were held in Topeka and Wichita in May and April, respectively.
More than 160 Topeka employees, family members and friends marched and donated $26,166 (including a $2,000 donation from Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas), representing nearly a 20 percent increase from 2011. Those efforts put BCBSKS as the No. 1 top fundraising company in Topeka for the May 4 event.
Ten employees from the Wichita regional office walked at the Wichita event. Between walker donations, fundraising events and a $500 corporate sponsorship, $2,000 was given to the March of Dimes.
The mission of March of Dimes is to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth and infant mortality.
