Andrew C. Corbin - President and CEO

Andrew C. CorbinAndrew C. Corbin brings 35 years of experience in health insurance sales and management to the position of president/CEO of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas. He became just the seventh top executive in the company's 67-year history Oct. 1, 2007.

Corbin was promoted to the company's top leadership role after six years as a vice president. He most recently served as vice president of external sales and provider affairs, while also leading two of the company's subsidiaries.

When he joined BCBSKS as director of sales in 1987, Corbin already had 13 years of sales and management experience with other health insurers. After a brief stint as a teacher and coach, he served six years as sales manager for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas City. He later served five years as district sales director for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas and two years as director of marketing for Humana Insurance Co.

Corbin was promoted to vice president in 2001, leading the company's marketing, provider relations and reimbursement division.

In addition to his role as president/CEO of BCBSKS, Corbin serves in leadership positions for the company’s subsidiaries. He is chairman of Advance Insurance Company of Kansas and president of the Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas Foundation. 

He also represents BCBSKS on the boards and committees of several national organizations. He is a member of the board of directors for the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association, TriWest Healthcare Alliance and Prime Therapeutics LLC. He also serves on the TriWest executive committee and the human resources committee for Prime Therapeutics.

Corbin is extensively involved in the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association. He is a member of the board's administrative committee and the Federal Employee Program Board of Managers. He is vice chairman of the National Employee Benefit Committee. He chairs the FEP budget and plan performance subcommittee and the NEBC investment committee, as well chairing the Association's District IX group.

Closer to home, Corbin serves on the board of directors for the Greater Topeka Chamber of Commerce, United Way of Greater Topeka, the Kansas Chamber of Commerce, and the Kansas Insurance Education Foundation. He currently serves as treasurer for the United Way of Greater Topeka and is the 2009 campaign chairman for Meals on Wheels.

Corbin is a native of Alva, OK, but has spent the majority of his life in Kansas. He was raised in Liberal and graduated from Wichita State University in 1972 with a bachelor's in education. He and his wife, Robin, have four adult children and three grandchildren.
