Shelley Pittman - Vice President, Operations

A vice president since 2004, Shelley Pittman oversees one of the company's largest divisions and the employees most responsible for providing superior service to members on a daily basis. As the company's chief operating officer and vice president of operations, she oversees the customer service, membership and claims departments.

Pittman brings more than 35 years of experience at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas to her position. She joined the company in 1972 as a file clerk in the Medicaid area, and gained further experience as a claims processor and customer service representative. Her first supervisory position was in the telecommunications unit in customer service.

She made the move to sales in 1981, beginning with HMO Kansas. Pittman later became a senior group consultant selling to large groups and was the company's top selling rep for six of her seven years. She was promoted to director of internal sales, overseeing small group and individual sales, and held that position for 14 years before being named vice president of internal sales and member relations in 2004.

Pittman is a Topeka native.
