Bob Young, SPHR — Vice President, Administrative Services and Human Development
Bob Young brings nearly 40 years in human resources to his role as vice president of administrative services and human development, a position he was promoted to in February 2013. His areas of responsibility cover a wide swath of the company including: human resources (staffing, benefits, compensation, affirmative action/EEO, corporate health and wellness initiatives), as well as facilities management for all owned and leased properties (including purchasing, security and maintenance). In addition, he has executive oversight of the company’s workforce and leadership development program, which includes Blue University. Young also is responsible for community relations, which is responsible for the general interfacing of the corporation into the community, through corporate giving, volunteerism and community partnerships.
Young joined BCBSKS in 1974 as a manager in the claims, customer service and membership department. He served two years as the director of the Wichita regional service center and worked as director of human resources and facilities from 1989 until his promotion to vice president.
He earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Kansas in personnel administration and is a senior professional in human resources. He’s volunteered for Junior Achievement since 1989 and currently sits on the organization’s executive committee. He also has served on the leadership board for both the March of Dimes and United Way of Greater Topeka.
