Health/Dental/Prescription Drugs Insurance
BCBSKS employees who work a minimum of 17.5 hours/week are offered membership in Blue Choice. Blue Choice is a PPO product that offers incentives for using a Blue Choice or PPO provider; a primary care physician is not required.
Allowable charges on preventive dental care are covered at 100 percent. The three-tier prescription drug copay is $15; $30 for brand name prescription drugs on the formulary (preferred medication) list; and $45 for brand name prescription drugs that aren't on the formulary.
Currently, the company pays 75 percent of the monthly premium for regular full-time employees and their spouses/dependents. The company-paid percentage of the premium for regular part-time employees is based on their scheduled hours. Premiums may be deducted pre-tax.
Tax Favored Savings Plan – 401(k)
After the first 90 days of employment, a generous tax-deferred savings/retirement plan is available for employees. An employee may contribute up to 75 percent of his or her annual salary based on 401(k) contribution guidelines and can choose from many different investment options.
To help the money grow, BCBSKS will match 50 percent of an employee's contribution up to 10 percent of his or her salary. An employee is vested after three years with the company.
BCBSKS provides for regular employees scheduled to work 17.5 hours/week or more, term life insurance worth two times the employee's annual base salary. Employees have the option to purchase additional life and/or accident insurance for themselves, their spouse or dependents.
For a minimal cost, regular employees working a minimum of 17.5 hours/week may enroll in Plan 150, a cancer-only policy which provides a cash benefit for expenses related to cancer treatment.
Hospital Indemnity Plan (HIP)
For a minimal cost, regular employees working a minimum of 17.5 hours/week may purchase the HIP benefit which provides a cash benefit for eligible hospitalizations.
Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA)
Employees may establish a flexible spending account (FSA) which allows them to pay certain health and dependent care costs with pre-tax dollars. Eligibility begins after one year of service (365 days) for the medical FSA and after 30 days for the dependent care FSA.
Vacation/Paid Time Off (PTO)
Full-time hourly employees begin accruing 143 hours annually of PTO that can be used for vacation, sick or other personal leave. Salaried employees begin accruing two weeks of paid vacation. Hours are earned bi-weekly based on full-time/part-time status and years of service.
There are eight company holidays each year plus up to four floating holidays, depending on years of service.
Paid holidays are New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving (two days) and Christmas (two days).
Family medical leave is available to any employee with 12 months cumulative service of at least 1,250 hours with the company during the 12 consecutive months immediately preceding the date on which the proposed leave will begin.Parking
Employees may apply for the many services offered by the on-site Credit Union, including direct deposit, payroll deduction, checking and savings accounts, loans, ATM and VISA cards.
A wide variety of classes and programs are offered through Workforce and Leadership Development (WFLD) – Blue University, CQI Services and Information Services.
Blue University offers three levels of development across seven leadership competencies. In addition to classes offered through Blue University, a wide variety of classes in interpersonal skills, communication skills, work skills, stress and change management, teambuilding and problem-solving, programming and software training are available.
In addition to the formal learning provided through class instruction, an extensive corporate library provides an additional learning resource for interested employees.
All employees can take advantage of our on-site fitness center, fitness and exercise programs, blood pressure and cholesterol testing, flu shots, CPR classes, blood drives and more. The Corporate Health Services department provides leadership to assure a safe & healthful workplace; to promote optimal employee physical and emotional health; and to reinforce the relationship between health, productivity and achievement of corporate goals.
Tuition Reimbursement Assistance
Upon completion of one full year of continuous service, employees are eligible for tuition reimbursement for courses, books and fees.
Maximum reimbursement is $3,000 per year for full-time and $1,500 per year for part-time employees.
A full-service cafeteria is located on our main campus. The cafeteria offers breakfast, lunch and snack menus at reasonable prices. Vending machines and microwaves are located in the break rooms throughout the various locations.
BCBSKS employees can also take advantage of various discounts at selected restaurants, fitness centers, daycare centers and retail shopping establishments. Discounted tickets also are available for local movie theaters, community-wide events and area attractions.
Other benefits include reimbursement of eligible adoption expenses, paid funeral leave, short-term and long-term disability, service awards, and retirement gifts.
