Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas Secondary to Medicare EDI Edit Updates 01/31/2010
Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas (BCBSKS) published three newsletters regarding the submission of electronic claims in which BCBSKS is secondary to Medicare. Two Institutional newsletters - Feb 2, 2009, and Nov 23, 2009 and one Professional newsletter Feb 2, 2009.
Effective January 31, 2010, BCBSKS providers no longer need to wait 30 days after the Medicare payment/non payment date before submitting an electronic claim for processing. This time frame has now been changed to a 15 day wait.
Another change is related to the ICN number being required. With this latest revision, this requirement has been removed.
