TheraTogs® (trunk and hip orthotic)

DESCRIPTION
TheraTogs ® is an orthotic undergarment and strapping system to address aspects of orthopedic development of the trunk and lower extremity segments that are proximal to the foot, emphasizing the use of accurate nomenclature and plane-based views, and applied to the movement disorders occurring in children and adults with central nervous system disorders. TheraTogs ® strapping rationale embraces the principles of managing muscle imbalance syndromes. Preambulation children do not benefit from trunk stabilization. Children seldom tolerate such an involved orthotic which may even delay acquisition of ambulation skills. There is no evidence in the medical literature to support this orthotic and it is not in common usage.
