Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas is pleased that many institutional providers have elected to stop receiving paper remittance advices. In place of paper, these providers have opted to obtain their remittance advices from the BCBSKS Web site. A few of the many advantages for using the online remittance advice are:
BCBSKS is asking every provider to turn off the paper and switch to online remittance advices. After you've switched, if there are reasons why you don't feel the online RA will work for you, BCBSKS wants to know what they are. We can't fix it if we don't know about it.
Just like our Web claim status and eligibility information, access to the online remittance advices is a "secured service" on the BCBSKS Web site. In order to use it, you must establish a provider profile. This isn't difficult but does require that the user have specific knowledge about the provider in order to gain access to this confidential information. Also, many providers have more than one provider number. For example a hospital could have a provider number for the hospital, swing bed unit, emergency room physicians, home health agency, etc. If you have multiple numbers, please be sure to shut off the paper RA for all of them.
