BCBSKS Member's Eligibility and Claim Status Information Exclusively on the Availity Web Portal Effective August 19, 2013

For the past 24 months, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas has been working closely with our contracting providers and Availity to move secure information on Blue Cross and Blue Shield members in Kansas to Availity’s multi-payer web portal. We are nearing the end of our transition period and have noticed that you have not yet established an account with Availity.

It is important for you to know that, beginning August 19, Availity will become the exclusive portal for online access to all secure information on Blue Cross and Blue Shield members in Kansas. This means BCBSKS will require all of our providers to use the Availity Web Portal for online claims status inquiries, and eligibility and benefits verification. Providers who require other online services, such as pre-certification and viewing remittance advice, will be re-directed to the secure section of www.bcbsks.com without having to use a separate login. Providers can also continue to use real time transactions through their clearinghouse or vendor.

I encourage you to act now so you will continue to have online access to this secure information on Blue Cross and Blue Shield members in Kansas. You should allow three to five business days to complete the registration process with Availity. Registering with the Availity Web Portal is FREE and easy:

Availity offers free training that will help you and your staff learn more. Once you log into the secure portal, you will have access to many resources to help you jumpstart your learning, including free live training, on-demand training, frequently asked questions and comprehensive help topics. To view the current training resources, click Free Training at the top of any page in the Availity Web Portal.

In summary, beginning August 19 you will no longer be able to directly access BlueAccess from www.bcbsks.com; you will need to access all secure online information on Blue Cross and Blue Shield members in Kansas through the Availity Web Portal.

Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter. Please feel free to contact our EDI department at 1-800-472-6481, option 1, with any questions.
