Submission of the Employer's Identification and Social Security Numbers

The submission of the Employer's Identification Number, EI qualifier, and/or the Social Security Number, SY qualifier, structure is validated on the EDI Front End. 

When submitting an EI with no dash (-) it must be 9 digits long. When submitting an EI with a dash, the dash must be in the third position and the length must be 10 characters.

When submitting an SY with no dashes (-) it must be 9 digits long. When submitting an SY with dashes, a dash must be in the 4th and 7th position and the length must be 11 characters.
