How will POS work for employees in different states?
If the group is enrolled in BlueCard POS, then the employees are part of the POS program in the state in which they reside.
What provider network should BlueCard POS members use in Kansas?
For BCBSKS, the POS network is Blue Select. BlueCard POS members who reside in Kansas should select a Blue Select primary care physician and utilize the services of the Blue Select provider network. NOTE: There is not a special Blue Select provider network for non-hospital facility providers (i.e. home health, hospice, ESRD centers, and substance abuse facilities). The provider would have to be a contracting provider with BCBSKS and the services authorized by the primary care physician when applicable.
How do you identify a BlueCard POS member?
ID cards are issued by the group's home plan (this is the state in which the group's home office is located). The front of the card will display the BCBS logo without reference to a specific BCBS Plan. If the member resides in Kansas, the card will display Blue Select on the front, which is the POS program for BCBSKS.
What is the claim payment allowance?
The claim payment allowance for BlueCard POS members who reside in the Kansas service area will be the Blue Select payment level.
Who do you contact for eligibility information regarding a BlueCard POS member who resides in Kansas?
The home plan will furnish BCBSKS membership information for all members who reside in the Kansas service area. BCBSKS should be contacted for basic benefit questions. If greater detail is needed than what is available to us, the customer service center will direct your call to the BlueCard Program Network at 1-800-676-BLUE (2583).
Will the benefit structure for BlueCard POS members be similar to the coverage that Kansas Blue Select members have for coverage?
There may be similarities, but since the actual benefit package is developed by the group through their home plan, there is no guarantee.
Who will handle the precertification/prior authorization or case management for BlueCard POS members who reside in the Kansas service area?
With the exception of mental health/substance abuse services, BCBSKS will handle this activity for the BlueCard POS members who reside in the Kansas service area. The online electronic precertification system is available for hospital use in handling the precertification activity of inpatient admissions for Kansas POS residents. If the admission is for mental health or substance abuse, contact the telephone number listed on the back of the identification card.
