Availity Rollout Delay
In 2011 Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas (BCBSKS) introduced the Availity® Health Information Network to a group of pilot testing providers. We (BCBSKS and Availity) appreciate the time that the pilot groups spent on testing Availity and providing us with valuable feedback on the Availity portal.
During the testing phase, we listened to the test group's comments and suggestions regarding the Availity portal and have decided to step back and take a look at the requested enhancements and improvements that were suggested from the pilot groups. In order to increase usability of the portal, the rollout of Availity to all contracting BCBSKS providers has been delayed. A new general availability date for all providers will be announced soon.
Meanwhile, providers do not need to wait until BCBSKS goes live on the Availity portal to get registered; providers are highly encouraged to get registered with Availity now ahead of the general rollout. Please visit Availity.com and follow the steps to get registered. Once BCBSKS goes live on the Availity portal, registered users will be ready to utilize the Availity Web site to access BCBSKS member eligibility and claim status information. In addition, once you are registered, you will be able to access other payers that currently use Availity for their members' information. One of the many advantages of using Availity is the common look and experience of the Availity portal for all payers using Availity for standard transactions.
