Basic Blue provides solid coverage for hospital, surgical and emergency room services with a choice of deductibles. Compared to our other plans, Basic Blue premiums are lower because the program focuses entirely on hospital-related care. As with all Blue Cross plans, the care you receive is provided by your choice of doctors and hospitals from our comprehensive network – 98% of all health care providers in our service area.
How does Basic Blue work?
When you sign up for coverage you can choose the deductible that best fits your budget: $500 individual/$1,000 family or $1,000 individual/$2,000 family. Once your deductible is met, you pay 50% of the cost of covered benefits to a maximum of $1,000 per person ($2,000 per family). After that, Blue Cross pays 100% of the allowed charges for the remainder of the benefit period.
Covered services include but are not limited to:
Paid at 100 percent of the allowable charge. Includes routine screenings, immunizations, checkups and counseling received to prevent illness or disease.
Your dependents are covered to age 26.
Prescription Drugs Savings Program
This program offers unlimited savings on prescriptions drugs. There are no claim forms to fill out or waiting periods to meet. (This is not an insured benefit. It is a no-cost pharmacy discount card.)
Each person covered has an unlimited lifetime maximum benefit.
Home Health Care & Hospice Rider
