Prefix goes in positions 1237-1239 on the file layout.

This list is dynamic. It is recommended that the list be table driven with client/user update capability rather than hard coded into the system.

Federal Blue Cross patients do not have a prefix. Their number begins with an 'R' and is followed by 8 numeric characters, e.g. 'R12345678'. The entire Federal number (including the R) should go in positions 1240-1251.

**Federal Blue Cross patients should be BL pay status in position 153-154.**

RAO is a prefix and should start in position 1237, not 1240.

Walmart Blue Cross patients formerly did not have a prefix - only 9 numeric characters.
Now they have a WMW prefix.
The pay status (positions 153-154) for Walmart Blue Cross patients should be coded as NK - Non-Kansas Blue Cross and Blue Shield patients.

If a prefix is not in this list and the patient has Blue Cross, the Pay Status needs to be NK.
