Prefix goes in positions 1237-1239 on the file layout.
This list is dynamic. It is recommended that the list be table driven with client/user update capability rather than hard coded into the system.
Federal Blue Cross patients do not have a prefix. Their number begins with an 'R' and is followed by 8 numeric characters, e.g. 'R12345678'. The entire Federal number (including the R) should go in positions 1240-1251.
**Federal Blue Cross patients should be BL pay status in position 153-154.**
RAO is a prefix and should start in position 1237, not 1240.
If a prefix is not in this list and the patient has Blue Cross, the Pay Status needs to be NK.
* XSM can only be a secondary payor ID number. It should never be primary.
