21 Health Clinics Receive Gift from Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas, Its Foundation

Twenty-one primary care and community health centers providing care for underserved Kansans shared $20,500 in end-of-the-year donations from Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas or the Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas Foundation.

“These clinics are on the front-line of helping uninsured and underinsured Kansans receive the medical care that they need and deserve,” said Graham Bailey, vice president of corporate communications and public relations for BCBSKS and COO of the company’s charitable foundation. “These clinics are challenged to serve an increasing number of clients on budgets that are already stretched to the limits.

“BCBSKS and our foundation want to recognize these clinics for the crucial work each does in its respective community and offer some level of financial assistance,” he said. “It is our hope that other businesses and individuals will provide additional resources to these clinics so more Kansans can receive the medical care they need to live long, happy and healthy lives.”

The 21 clinics that received the grants are: Community Health Center of Southeast Kansas, Pittsburg; Community Health Ministries, Wamego; First Care Clinic of Hays; Flint Hills Community Health Center, Emporia; Health Ministries Clinic, Newton; Konza Prairie Community Health Center, Junction City; The Prairie Star Health Center, Hutchinson; St. Vincent Clinic, Leavenworth; Salina Community Health Center, Salina; United Methodist Mexican-American Ministries, Garden City; Wathena Medical Center, Wathena; We Care Project, Great Bend;

Also, Douglas County Dental Clinic and Health Care Access, both in Lawrence; and, in Manhattan, Community Health Council and Riley County Community Health Clinic;

And, in Wichita, Project Access, Good Samaritan Clinic, Grace Med Health Clinic, Guadalupe Clinic and Hunter Health Clinic.

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas is an independent licensee of the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association. BCBSKS is the state's largest health insurer, serving all Kansas counties except Johnson and Wyandotte.
