Kansas Action for Children to Benefit When Members Sign Up for Online Claims Notification

For a limited time, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas will donate $1 to Kansas Action for Children every time a member signs up to receive an e-mail notification when his or her claims are processed.

The company donated more than $1,300 to the March of Dimes in 2005 when 1,362 members signed up for the notification during a similar promotion.

“We were pleased with the manner in which our members responded to last year’s campaign and decided to undertake it again this year while highlighting a different organization,” said Graham Bailey, vice president of corporate communications and public relations. “We are proud to support KAC in their mission of improving the overall health and well-being of Kansas children.”

When members sign up for e-mail notification they agree to not receive the paper version of their Summary of Claims Processed (SOCP) in the mail – saving the cost of printing and postage – in favor of viewing their claims information in a secured section of www.bcbsks.com. A replica of the paper version of the SOCP is available for a member to view online.

“The number of members who are taking advantage of this service continues to grow which is positive for all Blue Cross members,” Bailey said. “Saving money on printing and postage helps us keep our overall administrative costs low.”

Members who are interested in learning more about this service should log-in to the Secured Services section. Members who have never set-up a user name and received a password can choose Getting Started to begin the process.

The mission of Kansas Action for Children is to advocate for policies and programs that ensure and improve the physical, emotional and educational well-being of all Kansas children and youth. KAC is an independent and non-partisan voice on their behalf.

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas is an independent licensee of the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association. BCBSKS is the state's largest health insurer, serving all Kansas counties except Johnson and Wyandotte.
