Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas Members Help Cancer Patients, Environment by Turning off Paper Claim Forms
Continuing throughout 2009, an innovative program gives Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas members an opportunity to help the company stay cost-effective and environmentally friendly while also supporting those affected by cancer.
During 2009 BCBSKS will donate $1 to the American Cancer Society Wigs Program for each member who chooses to receive his or her Summary of Claims Processed (SOCP) statements online rather than in the mail. Through this program the American Cancer Society is able to provide free wigs, turbans and hats for women dealing with hair loss from chemotherapy and radiation treatments.
“An added bonus to members who sign up for this service is that they will receive information immediately since an e-mail is sent as soon as their claims have been processed,” said Graham Bailey, vice president of corporate communications and public relations. “The response thus far has been tremendous with nearly 3,000 members choosing to 'turn off' their paper claims summaries.”
If members are interested in getting involved, just visit the www.bcbsks.com home page. After creating an account for BlueAccess®, simply click the "Request SOCP e-mail notification" link to turn off paper SOCPs.
Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas is an independent licensee of the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association. BCBSKS is the state's largest health insurer, serving all Kansas counties except Johnson and Wyandotte.
