Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas Employees, Foundation Give $226,493.74 to United Way Campaigns in the State

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas and the Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas Foundation donated a total of $226,493.74 this fall to United Way campaigns in Topeka, Salina, Wichita and Hutchinson.

In Topeka, where approximately 1,450 employees work, President/CEO Andrew C. Corbin presented officials from the United Way of Greater Topeka with a check in the amount of $209,845.44. The check represents an employee contribution of $184,845.44 as well as a $25,000 donation from the BCBSKS Foundation.

“I'm proud of our employees for the compassion they demonstrate for others in our community during these tough times," said Corbin. "Their contributions will help provide United Way resources to assist those in our communities who are finding themselves in need this year."

In Salina, home to about 40 BCBSKS employees, donations totaling $6,671.98 have been donated to the Salina Area United Way by employees and the BCBSKS Foundation. In Wichita, where BCBSKS has about 30 people, $8,620.32 has been donated by employees and the BCBSKS Foundation in support of the United Way of the Plains’ annual campaign drive. Twelve employees in Hutchinson raised $1,356 for the United Way of Reno County.

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas is an independent licensee of the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association. BCBSKS is the state's largest health insurer, serving all Kansas counties except Johnson and Wyandotte.
