Shorman Elected Chairman of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas Board of Directors
Gary D. Shorman, Hays, was elected to a one-year term as chairman of the Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas Board of Directors at its annual meeting May 13 in Topeka. Steve W. Sloan, Pittsburg, was elected to a one-year term as vice chairman.
Shorman, president and CEO of Eagle Communications since 1998, has served on the Blue Cross board since 2005. Sloan, president and CEO of Midwest Minerals Inc., since 1995, joined the board in 2008.
Directors elected to four-year terms at the meeting were are James M. Alley, III, D.D.S., oral and maxillofacial surgeon, Wichita; Robin R. LacKamp, senior vice president, Peoples Exchange Bank, Concordia; Thomas C. Simpson, M.D., retired family physician, Sterling; and Cathy Mih Taylor, M.D., physician (OB/GYN),Chanute.
Other members of the board are Leon J. Boor, Abilene; Andrew C. Corbin, Topeka; Diane L. Lee, Hutchinson; Steven D. Marsh, Wichita; Edward J. Miller, Iola; Louis E. (Gene) Mosiman, Topeka; Robert L. Mullen, Lyons; Susan M. Smith, Wichita; and, Kenneth W. Winter, Dodge City.
Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas is an independent licensee of the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association. BCBSKS is the state's largest health insurer, serving all Kansas counties except Johnson and Wyandotte.
