Shorman Re-elected Chairman of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas Board of Directors
Gary D. Shorman, Hays, was re-elected to a second, one-year term as chairman of the Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas Board of Directors at its annual meeting May 12 in Topeka. Steve W. Sloan, Pittsburg, was re-elected to a second one-year term as vice chairman.
Shorman, president and CEO of Eagle Communications since 1998, has served on the Blue Cross board since 2005. Sloan, president and CEO of Midwest Minerals Inc., since 1995, joined the board in 2008.
Directors elected to four-year terms at the meeting were Edward J. Miller, retired apparel manufacturer, Iola; Louis E. (Gene) Mosiman, vice president emeritus, Washburn University, Topeka; and, Kenneth W. Winter, general manager, Winter Feed Yard, Dodge City.
Other members of the board are James M. Alley, III, D.D.S., Wichita; Leon J. Boor, Abilene; Andrew C. Corbin, Topeka; Robin R. LacKamp, Concordia; Diane L. Lee, Hutchinson; Steven D. Marsh, Wichita; Robert L. Mullen, Lyons; Thomas C. Simpson, M.D., Sterling; Susan M. Smith, Wichita; and, Cathy Mih Taylor, M.D., Chanute.
Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas is an independent licensee of the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association. BCBSKS is the state's largest health insurer, serving all Kansas counties except Johnson and Wyandotte.
