Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas and Kansas Department of Wildlife, Parks & Tourism Team up to Promote Healthy Getaways in Kansas
Who knew that having fun could be beneficial to your health? In fact, engaging in recreation in Kansas can make you happier, live longer and even be smarter. Healthy Kansas Recreation is the focus of this year’s statewide campaign partnering the state’s largest health insurer, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas (BCBSKS), and the Kansas Department of Wildlife, Parks & Tourism. The campaign encourages Kansans to take part in the many recreational opportunities that Kansas has to offer.
“It’s important for all of us to take time from the stress of everyday life. There are so many opportunities right here in Kansas to enjoy a relaxing day trip or a long vacation,” said Governor Sam Brownback. “I encourage all Kansans to find something you and your loved ones can enjoy together – get out and play, visit a museum or festival, explore another city or the Kansas countryside, or relax at one of our gorgeous lakes and parks. The continuing partnership of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas and the Kansas Department of Wildlife, Parks and Tourism is a great example of what we can accomplish through state and private collaboration. Their efforts to promote our state and the health of Kansans is a definite win-win.”
The campaign, Healthy Kansas Recreation, will feature BCBSKS employees and will highlight the wide range of attractions and activities available around the state through a series of TV spots, newspaper and magazine ads, and billboards placed throughout Kansas during the peak summer recreation months.
“We are pleased to extend our partnership with Kansas Department of Wildlife, Parks & Tourism as we work together to remind Kansans about all the wonderful opportunities the Sunflower State offers for either a healthy vacation or, for those with less time, healthy recreation,” said Andrew C. Corbin, BCBSKS president/CEO. “From one corner of the state to the next, Kansas offers a multitude of parks, preserves and lakes where we can bike, hike, run and play, or simply relax in the fresh air of outdoor Kansas.”
The mission of the Kansas Tourism Division is to promote and encourage the traveling public to visit and travel within Kansas and to generate and facilitate tourism and travel-related spending throughout the state by promoting recreational, historic, cultural and natural attractions.
