December 21, 2012 - School nurses, teachers and administrators in 55 Kansas counties will be able to deliver at-school programs aimed at improving the health of Kansas children by sharing $148,798.73 in Healthy Habits for Life grants from the Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas Foundation.

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas Employees, Foundation Give $242,673 to United Way Campaigns Across the State
December 11, 2012 - Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas employees and the Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas Foundation donated a total of $242,673.01 this fall to United Way campaigns in Topeka, Salina, Wichita and Hutchinson.

Applications Now Available for BlueCHIP® Awards Program Recognizing Healthy Kansas Communities
September 5, 2012 - Kansas communities that are working hard to promote healthier environments for their residents are encouraged to apply by Dec. 3 for an award from the BlueCHIP® community health improvement program. Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas (BCBSKS) and Kansas Recreation and Park Association (KRPA) have renewed their BlueCHIP partnership for a third year, meaning that four communities will soon be awarded $2,500 each to assist them in furthering their health and wellness efforts.

Shorman Remains Chairman, Five Kansans Elected To Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas Board of Directors
May 10, 2012 - Gary D. Shorman, Hays, was re-elected to a third, one-year term as chairman of the Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas Board of Directors at its annual meeting May 10 in Topeka. Steve W. Sloan, Pittsburg, was re-elected to a third one-year term as vice chairman.

Partnership Encourages Healthy Kansas Recreation
April 12, 2012 - Who knew that having fun could be beneficial to your health? In fact, engaging in recreation in Kansas can make you happier, live longer and even be smarter. Healthy Kansas Recreation is the focus of this year’s statewide campaign partnering the state’s largest health insurer, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas (BCBSKS), and the Kansas Department of Wildlife, Parks & Tourism. The campaign encourages Kansans to take part in the many recreational opportunities that Kansas has to offer.

National Walk @ Lunch Day® April 25 Promotes Importance of a Walking Habit in Overall Health

That is why Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas is sponsoring the sixth annual National Walk @ Lunch Day® April 25 – to encourage busy Kansans to start walking towards better health by taking a walk during their lunch breaks.

Leonard R. Hernandez Joins Board of Directors for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas

- Leonard R. Hernandez, Elkhart, recently joined the Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas Board of Directors. Hernandez was selected to fill a vacant position on the board until the annual policyholders meeting May 10 at which time he will be eligible to be elected to fulfill the unexpired term on the board.

Four Kansas Communities Recognized with BlueCHIP® Awards for Promoting Healthy Communities

28 Community Health Centers Share $46,200 in Grants from the Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas Foundation
January 17, 2012 - Twenty-eight primary care and community health centers providing care for underserved Kansans shared $46,200 in year-end grants from the Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas Foundation, according to Marlou Wegener, chief operating officer of the Foundation. Each clinic received a grant of $1,650.
