Schools in 66 counties share $149,650 in Healthy Habits for Life grants from the Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas Foundation
Dec. 19, 2013 - Thousands of children attending schools in 66 Kansas counties will have access to at-school programs during 2014 aimed at improving their health and fostering positive habits. The programs will be funded through 160 Healthy Habits for Life grants totaling $149,650.16 that were recently distributed to school nurses, teachers and administrators by the Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas Foundation.
Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas Employees, Foundation Give $252,828 to United Way Campaigns Across the State
Dec. 10, 2013 - Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas employees and the Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas Foundation donated a total of $252,828.05 this fall to United Way campaigns in Topeka, Salina, Wichita and Hutchinson.
Applications Now Available for BlueCHIP® Awards Program Recognizing Healthy Kansas Communities
Oct. 16, 2013 - Kansas communities that are promoting healthier environments for their residents are encouraged to apply by Dec. 10 for an award from the BlueCHIP® community health improvement program. Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas (BCBSKS) and Kansas Recreation and Park Association (KRPA) have not only renewed their BlueCHIP partnership for a fourth year, but have also expanded the awards program to recognize six communities. Each of the six winning communities will receive $2,500 to assist them in furthering their health and wellness efforts.
Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas Unveils New Website for Online Sales, Offers 28 BlueCare Plans on the Marketplace
Oct. 1, 2013 - Kansans shopping for their own health insurance in the coming months will be able to choose from a variety of BlueCare℠ plans – all of which meet the new federal guidelines for essential health benefits and no-cost preventive services – through two online sources. Consumers may purchase directly from Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas via a new sales website or by selecting one of the 28 BlueCare plans being offered by the company through the federally-facilitated Health Insurance Marketplace.

July 25, 2013 - Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas has recognized Stormont-Vail HealthCare, Topeka, with a Blue Distinction Center® designation for delivering quality cardiac care, as part of the Blue Distinction Centers for Specialty Care® program. Blue Distinction Centers are hospitals shown to deliver quality specialty care based on objective, transparent measures for patient safety and health outcomes that were developed with input from the medical community.

January 10, 2013 - For the sixth consecutive year, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas has been awarded the Highest Customer Service Award in the health care industry by the Service Quality Measurement Group (SQM). The BCBSKS customer service center also was recertified as a "World Class Certified Call Center." This indicates the company's customer service center performed at or sustained the World Class call level.
