Kansas Communities Striving for Better Health Encouraged to Apply for BlueCHIP® Awards Program
October 16, 2014 - Applications are now available for the BlueCHIP community health improvement program, a program designed to recognize and reward Kansas communities that are promoting healthier environments for their residents. Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas (BCBSKS) and Kansas Recreation and Park Association (KRPA) are partnering for a fifth year to present the awards. Six winning communities will reach receive $2,500 to assist them in furthering their health and wellness efforts. Applications are due Dec. 5, and the awards will be presented in January 2015 at the KRPA annual conference in Topeka.
Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas Foundation Commits $150,000 in Renewing Its Healthy Habits for Life School Grant Program for 2015
July 15, 2014 - The Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas Foundation is seeking grant applications until Oct. 10 from school personnel – including nurses, teachers and administrators – interested in helping their students reduce their cardiovascular risk, increase their physical activity or learn healthy eating habits.
Sloan Re-elected Chairman, Four Kansans Elected to Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas Board of Directors
May 8, 2014 - Steve W. Sloan, Pittsburg, was re-elected to a second, one-year term as chairman of the Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas Board of Directors at its annual meeting May 8 in Topeka. Diane L. Lee, CPA, CSEP, Hutchinson, was re-elected to a second, one-year term as vice chairman.
National Walk @ Lunch Day® April 30 Offers Opportunity to Start Walking to Better Health

Walking is one of the easiest and most effective forms of exercise; that is why Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas is sponsoring the eighth annual National Walk @ Lunch Day® April 30 as a way to encourage busy Kansans to find 30 minutes a day to walk.

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas Foundation Contributions Reach $641,635 in 2013
Jan. 21, 2014 - With an eye to addressing both the immediate health care needs of uninsured Kansans as well as supporting long-term initiatives to improve the overall health of residents, the Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas Foundation distributed $641,635.96 during 2013 to 260 non-profit entities in its 103-county service area.
