Kansas Humanities Council to Bring Traveling Smithsonian Exhibit to State with Grant from the Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas Foundation
December 8, 2014 - The Kansas Humanities Council is kicking off a “Hometown Teams: How Sports Shape America” statewide initiative in 2015 thanks to a $50,000 grant from the Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas Foundation. Anchored by a Smithsonian Institution traveling exhibit of the same name, “Hometown Teams” promotes healthy behaviors through exhibitions and public programs about sports and fitness activities. The exhibit will visit six locations from January to November 2015, with an additional 16 partner sites participating in programs and activities to extend the conversation on sports and fitness to a total of 22 communities.

Annual Open Enrollment Period Offers Kansans Opportunity to Select Health Insurance Plan for 2015
November 12, 2014 - As the second open enrollment period under the Affordable Care Act is set to open Nov. 15, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas is committed to helping its members and other Kansans understand the enrollment process while offering access to affordable health insurance in all 103 counties in its service area.
Kansas Communities Striving for Better Health Encouraged to Apply for BlueCHIP® Awards Program
October 16, 2014 - Applications are now available for the BlueCHIP community health improvement program, a program designed to recognize and reward Kansas communities that are promoting healthier environments for their residents. Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas (BCBSKS) and Kansas Recreation and Park Association (KRPA) are partnering for a fifth year to present the awards. Six winning communities will reach receive $2,500 to assist them in furthering their health and wellness efforts. Applications are due Dec. 5, and the awards will be presented in January 2015 at the KRPA annual conference in Topeka.

National Walk @ Lunch Day® April 30 Offers Opportunity to Start Walking to Better Health

Jan. 21, 2014 - With an eye to addressing both the immediate health care needs of uninsured Kansans as well as supporting long-term initiatives to improve the overall health of residents, the Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas Foundation distributed $641,635.96 during 2013 to 260 non-profit entities in its 103-county service area.
