If you need to go to a hospital, try to save on an extra night’s stay by checking in the day of your surgery. In non-emergency situations, avoid being admitted on a weekend, because most procedures will be put on hold until Monday.
Carefully review your bill. Be on the lookout for duplicate billings, inaccurate admission or checkout dates, and the billing of supplies, medications and tests that you didn’t receive. Ask about any charges that are labeled “miscellaneous” on your bill. Always ask for an explanation of what they are.
If you notice an error on your bill, call the hospital’s accounting office immediately and explain the details of the error to them. If you see a pattern of incorrect billings from any provider, give us a call.
