Electronic Enrollment in Electronic Fund Transactions (EFTs)

The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) includes a series of "administrative simplification" provisions to improve efficiency and effectiveness of the health care system. Effective January 1, 2014, all payers will be required to use a standardized format for EFT enrollment, making the process easier for providers. As a result, BCBSKS will offer electronic EFT enrollment beginning January 1. A link will be available in the Providers section of the BCBSKS Website before the end of the year.  A paper version of the EFT enrollment form will be available, upon request, for those providers without access to the internet.

Providers choosing to enroll in EFT are encouraged to contact their financial institution to arrange for delivery of the Corporate Credit or Debit with Addenda (CCD+) data elements needed for re-association of the payment and the remittance advice. CCD+  format is the CCD with additional Addenda record included in the file and is the HIPAA mandated healthcare EFT standard. Upon request by the provider, the financial institution must provide all information contained within the payment related information field in the CCD+ record. The financial institution will have procedures in place to respond to your request. Enrollment in Electronic Remittance Advice (ERA) is not a requirement of participation in EFT. For more information pertaining to ERA, go to
