Questions Regarding People Already Enrolled with BCBSKS

What if the BCBSKS policy I'm enrolled in is an individual policy and not a group policy?
If you are within six months of your Medicare Part B effective date or your 65th birthday, you are guaranteed acceptance the first of the month following our receipt of your application.

If you are over 65, or if it has been longer than six months since your Medicare effective date, your application will be forwarded to our underwriting department. They will determine your eligibility. You will receive a letter stating whether you were accepted and what your effective date is. If you are denied, you will be given the reason(s) why.

What if the BCBSKS policy I'm enrolled in is a group policy?
If you are within six months of your Medicare Part B effective date or your 65th birthday or have creditable group coverage, you are guaranteed acceptance the first of the month following our receipt of your application.

If you are past these dates but within 63 days of your group policy ending, you are guaranteed acceptance the first of the month following our receipt of your application. If you are past these dates and past 63 days of your group policy ending, your application will be forwarded to our underwriting department. They will determine your eligibility. You will receive a letter stating whether you were accepted and what your effective date is. If you are denied, you will be given the reason(s) why.

What if I have coverage through the State of Kansas and want to go to Plan 65?
If you have coverage through the State of Kansas and would like to enroll in State of Kansas Senior Plan C, you will need to visit the State of Kansas Employee Health Plan Member Portal.

*Note - Once coverage is terminated with the State of Kansas, the member cannot re-enroll at a later date.

What if I am a Federal employee?
Tri-Care is offering a program to give retired military personnel and their spouses Federal coverage. If you enroll in this program and it is discontinued, you can return to Plan 65 and be guaranteed coverage as long as it is within 63 days of when your coverage ends.
