Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas (BCBSKS) recognizes the importance of supporting mental health efforts and has teamed up with MiResource to offer a personalized approach to those seeking mental health care. This free, custom tool is available to all Kansans.
MiResource is an online mental health provider referral service. It is unique in that it allows users to filter by specific patient needs such as conditions treated, location, language, availability, preferred payment method and much more. BCBSKS is leveraging this online service to connect Kansans with the mental health providers across the state that best fit their needs.
MiResource’s foundation comes from the heart. The co-founders, Mackenzie and Gabriela, each made commitments to dedicate their lives to helping people connect to the right mental health care, at the right time in the right way. Mackenzie experienced the death of her sister by suicide and Gabriela experienced her own overwhelming anxiety during college.
MiResource makes it simple to find a provider covered by our insurance – answer a few questions about your ZIP code or address, how you would like to meet a provider (in-person or remotely) and choose from a list of specialties. We’ll do the rest by providing you with a list of covered providers who meet your criteria. You can also filter the search results through a variety of filtering options including:
- Type of care, such as: talk therapy and medication management
- Areas of focus, such as: grief or loss, trauma, sexual or gender identity, and sleep concerns
- Preferred method of payment
- In-person or telehealth
- Provider identity, such as: race/ethnicity and languages spoken
- Accessibility, such as: step-free entry and elevators
Last year, we also launched ANewStateofMind.com, a site aimed at opening the conversation around mental health for all Kansans. Thousands of people accessed the site and utilized its resource guides, assessment quizzes, toolkits and wellness media library to help themselves or loved ones find a starting point for seeking the help they need. The site, coupled with MiResource is an easy and free way for Kansans to evaluate their need for care and identify a provider that fits their needs.
