Be the Spark

To increase Kansas teens' awareness of the importance of leading an active lifestyle, the Be the Spark initiative challenges teens to engage their peers in a healthier lifestyle. A two-year, $150,000 grant was provided to the Kansas Association of Youth Alumni Network (KAYAN) in 2017 and a second grant was provided in July 2019. And in 2020, 14 KAY Clubs across the state are sharing nearly $84,000 in Be the Spark grants to create or improve places in their communities where teens can be more physically active.

Mini-grants help local Kansas Association for Youth (KAY) clubs to create and implement projects that will provide their peers and future generations with access to fun ways to be physically active.
