Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas has a long history of supporting Junior Achievement. Over the past ten years, employees have volunteered nearly 2100 hours to teach JA classes. Employees have also served on the Junior Achievement of Kansas board of directors. The company values the positive impact the JA instructors and lessons have on children in our service area.
Junior Achievement is the world's largest organization dedicated to educating students about workforce readiness, entrepreneurship and financial literacy through experiential, hands-on programs. They use a unique approach that allows volunteers from the community to deliver their curriculum while sharing experiences with students.
The programs help prepare young people for the real world by showing them how to generate wealth and effectively manage it, how to create jobs which make their communities more robust and how to apply entrepreneurial thinking to the workplace. Students put these lessons into action and learn the value of contributing to their communities. Junior Achievement has developed materials and lesson plans for kindergarten thru 12th grade. Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas focuses on grades kindergarten thru 5th at Ross and Jardine Elementary Schools.
