Raelene Knolla, DO

Raelene Knolla, DO, is the Senior Vice President and Chief Medical Officer at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas (BCBSKS), the state’s largest and only locally owned health plan. As a mutually owned, not-for-profit health plan, BCBSKS serves over one million members with the state’s largest provider network and award-winning customer service.

Dr. Knolla leads the company’s work to ensure it delivers high-quality, cost-effective health care services to its members while maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements. She was named to this role in 2025.

Dr. Knolla has over a decade of experience in health care, having served in various leadership roles in organizations such as Medrina, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas City and Humana.  In these roles, she has led teams in enhancing patient care through interdisciplinary collaboration and focusing on whole-person health, improving patient outcomes and quality of care with a comprehensive population health approach.

Dr. Knolla is deeply passionate about serving our members and creating a health care system that prioritizes patient-centered care, enhances accessibility and leverages innovative technologies to improve health outcomes across our Kansas communities.

Dr. Knolla received her Bachelor of Science in Marketing from Florida State University, her MBA in Healthcare Leadership from Rockhurst University and her Doctorate in Osteopathic Medicine from the University of Health Sciences in Kansas City.
