Cost Relief Letter

Dear Valued Provider,

The past two years have been unlike anything we have ever seen personally and professionally. As healthcare providers, your teams have been on the front lines fighting the COVID-19 pandemic with a true heroic spirit. Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas appreciates everything you have done to ensure our members receive quality, safe healthcare during these unprecedented times.

Many industries have struggled with staffing shortages and supply chain issues, and we know yours is no different. That’s why we want to do something to help.

Beginning Sept. 1, 2022, Blue Cross will be providing a 1% cost relief adjustment in reimbursement (MAPs). The adjustment will be in place for a 12-month period for contracting providers. It will apply to all professional services except clinical lab, ambulance, pharmacies, and pharmaceuticals. This relief is meant to help ease a portion of the effects you have been feeling from the recent pricing hikes across our country.

In the coming weeks, you’ll also be receiving your Annual CAP Report to include 2023 changes in policy memos, reimbursement, and quality-based reimbursement payment (QBRP). The 1% cost relief will be in addition to any specific reimbursement changes planned for 2023.

As always if you have any questions, please contact your professional relations representative.
We value you as a contracting provider and appreciate the care you provide to our members. We look forward to your continued network participation as we work to best serve our neighbors, family, and friends across Kansas.

Thank you for all you do,

Douglas R. Scott
Director, Professional Relations
