Important changes to BCBSKS Specialty Pharmacy Network that starts Jan. 1, 2027

Starting Jan. 1, 2027, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas (BCBSKS) will launch the Advocate+™ Pharmacy Match program in collaboration with Prime Therapeutics LLC (Prime). This program enhances the experience for our members requiring specialty medications by expanding the specialty pharmacy network and matching members with highly qualified pharmacies.

Members will also be connected to an Advocate+ Care Specialist to help support them and answer questions. A flyer is available to download and provide members. Our hope is that members, especially those new to a specialty medication, will feel supported and informed.

Prime has engaged Free Market Health (FMH) to streamline the referral process, facilitating a smoother experience for our prescribers, pharmacies and members.

Impact on Prescribers
Starting your patient on a specialty medication in the program is simple.

1. To kick off the process, e-prescribe to FMH Pharmacy (details below). 
2. Continue using your standard prior authorization process, if applicable.
3. Once the prior authorization is approved, FMH will assign the referral to a specialty pharmacy and transfer the prescription. You’ll receive a fax with the pharmacy assignment.
4. The assigned pharmacy will contact the member to begin onboarding and coordinate delivery
