Important Credentialing Requirement for BCBSKS Network Providers
Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas (BCBSKS) is committed to ensuring our members have access to high‑quality providers who meet established credentialing standards. As part of this commitment, we are standardizing credentialing requirements across our provider network.
Effective July 1, 2026, all providers contracted in the BCBSKS network will be required to complete credentialing to both initiate enrollment and remain an in‑network provider. Note:
- Your network participation status will not be affected while actively completing the credentialing process.
- Providers who do not complete the required credentialing will be subject to termination of their contracting status.
- If a provider is terminated due to missed credentialing, a gap in network participation may occur, which can impact claims processing and reimbursement.
This requirement applies to all providers. In order to remain in our network, you must be credentialed, regardless of previous credentialing standards.
What to Expect
Providers who are due for credentialing will be contacted directly by the BCBSKS Provider Network Solutions Credentialing Team using the email on file.
Your timely response is critical to avoid delays or potential disruption in network participation. Our general outreach timeline:
- Day 1: Initial outreach
- Day 10: Second outreach
- Day 15: Third outreach
- Day 20: Provider Relations representative support
- No response after 30 days: Contracting status may be terminated
- Once a response is received, the credentialing process begins and is typically completed within 45 days after all required primary source verifications (PSVs) are received and accepted.
