Massachusetts introduces new PT / OT authorization requirements

Effective Jan. 1, 2026, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Massachusetts (BCBSMA) introduces new authorization requirements for certain outpatient physical therapy (PT) and occupational therapy (OT) services. While this change is not being made by our plan, Kansas providers may navigate these requirements when treating eligible BCBSMA members.

Prior to rendering services, providers are encouraged to verify eligibility and benefits and confirm authorization requirements. For benefit information, use Availity or call the number on the back of the member’s ID card.
