Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas highlights changes and additions to Medicare Advantage plans

Topeka, Kansas (Oct. 16, 2023) – Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas (BCBSKS) announced the year’s annual Medicare Advantages plans offering high quality health care to Kansans. The annual enrollment period starts on Oct. 15th and continues through Dec. 7th. Medicare Advantage plans purchased during AEP are effective Jan. 1st, 2024.

Medicare Advantage is an alternative to Original Medicare. These bundled Medicare Advantage plans include Part A (hospital insurance), Part B (medical insurance), and usually Part D (drug coverage). The plan may include extra benefits like dental, visions, hearing, and allowances towards over-the-counter retail items.

BCBSKS offers four different plans with varying ranges of benefits. Most plans offer a $0 monthly premium, $0 primary care copays with maximum out of pocket expenses, ranging from $3,500 to $5,400. All plans also come with wellness allowances meaning Kansans will get money to use on over-the-counter medications, dental, and eyewear needs.

When it comes to your health and wellness, you should partner with those you trust. Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas prioritizes your experience - from the first phone call to using your card at the doctor’s office, and every moment in between.

  • We offer quality coverage with a dedicated network of providers you can trust for your care needs.
  • Our claims processing is timely and accurate, because we understand how important it is to you and your doctors.
  • Understanding your health insurance plan is important, so we have team members on staff to answer all your coverage questions.
  • You are our top priority – and we strive to ensure you feel like it in every interaction.
  • Your family, friends, and even your doctor trust us, and have for over 80+ years.
  • BCBSKS has received a 4-star 2024 Medicare star rating. Stars are based on factors such as feedback from members of the plan, number of members who left or stayed with the plan, number of complaints Medicare received about the plan, and data from doctors and hospitals that work with the plan.

New this year:

BCBSKS heard Kansans express the need for a Medicare Advantage plan that did not include Part D prescription drug coverage. Our new Medicare Advantage Freedom Plan is a standalone Medicare Advantage plan offering a Part B premium buyback. Also new this year is that Leavenworth County residents will now be able to purchase an MA plan from BCBSKS.

BCBSKS is happy to offer high quality plans to Kansans. For more information visit our Medicare website or call 866-559-3038 to speak with a representative about which Medicare coverage option is right for you.
